Fall Footwear Trends 2010. Many of the styles that were popular last season are back again this year, only updated in different colours. Gray is as hot as black this season and muted earthy tones fit with the new military inspired themes. Accents such as buckles, buttons, faux fur and shearling trims are all the rage and update the look of footwear this fall.
Expect to see more masculine styles in women’s footwear, with combat boots, clogs and chunky wedges making a re-appearance. However, don’t expect feminine frills, sexy stilettos or skin revealing cutouts to disappear from the fall line-up. In fact, this year you’ll find an interesting mix of feminine and masculine styles, and in some cases find the two styles combined, for example, menswear inspired oxfords in stiletto spiked heel.
Here’s what to expect in footwear this season:
- Back by popular demand, tall boots have made their return, and Over-the Knee boots are the must-have footwear item this Fall. Wear these in a variety of styles including sleek and form fitting, military-inspired, and faux fur/shearling trimmed.
- Booties/ankle boots are hotter than ever and considered another must-have for the fall season. Suede booties, lace-ups and menswear inspired oxfords are hugely popular.

- Combat/military style lace up boots are a new trend that will command attention this fall.

- Animal prints are hugely popular and add pop to dark and muted winter shades.

- Clogs were made popular again when designers like Chanel put clog bottoms on platform sandals, so you can expect to see more of this clunky style in stores this fall. Wedge boots are another clunky favourite this fall.

- Skin revealing sandals and boots, with peep toes and sexy cutouts might be less popular in colder climates but are nevertheless haute for those willing to brave the winter weather in them.

- Adorable kitten heels are another new trend to watch for, and will certainly be welcome by those looking for simple elegance in a practical, walkable heel.

- Finally, classic tweed and plaid patterns are back with a feminine, French twist. Our fav right now is the British inspired, Burberry houndstooth pattern in an adorable bootie cut. Trendsetting style in a seductively sexy boot, what more could any fashion diva ask for? Shop the Look now and save $$$.
